TEACHING and LEARNING

Framed in the scholarship of teaching and learning, my teaching adheres to learning-oriented and critical pedagogy. As bell hooks reflects, education can be a practice of freedom; drawing on the teachings of Paulo Freire and Thich Nhat Hanh, she advocates for a way of teaching that exemplifies its own theory (1994). Critical pedagogy aligns with using education as a source of liberation and social change. I apply critical means of teaching to engage students and myself in continuous collaborative processes of learning, questioning, and knowledge production.

I have been involved in teaching at the bachelor, master, and doctoral level, teaching on themes of peace and security, gender and feminism, and the environment and climate change in Political Science as well as Peace and Conflict Studies programs.
